Everyday skills for the things that matter to you.

Occupational therapy helps children and young people participate in activities that matter to them. Support may focus on play, dressing, toileting, fine motor skills, sensory needs, emotional regulation and everyday routines.

Sessions may involve practicing an activity, adapting the environment or trialing strategies together. Your therapist will explain the purpose of each strategy and help you use it between appointments at home, kinder or school. Goals for older clients can focus on increasing independence in daily life.

Occupational Therapy may support areas including:

  • Daily living skills and independence
  • Fine and gross motor skills
  • Sensory processing and regulation
  • Emotional regulation
  • Executive functioning
  • Attention and organisation
  • Social participation
  • School, study and workplace participation
  • Self-care
  • Community participation
  • Functional capacity
  • Developmental skills
  • Assistive technology
  • Environmental recommendations
  • Capacity building

Your Team Link

One contact, a whole team

If your Occupational Therapist is your Team Link, they'll be your main contact. They coordinate across every area of your child's development and stay in regular contact with the rest of your team, at home, in the community and at kinder or school.
